Java 7 Update 6 does not address drag & drop issue in MacOS

Apple continues to acknowledge this issue in my bug reporter.apple.com submissions saying that it is a known issue. They've been doing this since 10.6 (Snow Leopard). I am now on 10.8 (Mountain Lion) and Safari 6. Today, I updated to the Oracle-supplied Java 7 Update 6 and re-tested our server. We now have a working example of this that does not require an account. Here's the URL: http://podcasting.usg.edu/4dcgi/podcast ... niv_str=20. Is this a Java issue, a Safari issue or a JFileUpload issue? TIA for any light that you can shed on this.

It's a Java Plugin issue. It affects all applets with D&D. Only Apple can fix it.

Could the following workaround help?

Yes, the workaround helps. Instructing our clients on using it keeps us busy for almost a year now

We've tested Java 7 updated 9 under Safari 6 / MacOSX 10.8.2 and issue is still here. I'm not sure Apple will fix it one day.
